Congratulations
on your place!
We are excited to meet you in Bristol this Autumn and welcome you to the CJS family :)
Whether you're a law student, non-law student, undergrad, or postgrad, everyone is welcome in the Criminal Justice Society! Our events are tailored towards a variety of interests and our debates and talks are designed to give you insight to criminal law and skills essential for criminal lawyers and other professionals.

Unlike other law societies at Bristol, our focus is on crime and criminal justice. We have one of the lowest joining fees starting at £3 and our smaller size allows us to welcome you into a close-nit and supportive community of crime enthusiasts!

Frequently asked questions:

Q- When should I buy a membership?
A- The best time would be after you meet us at either the freshers fair or 'Give it a go!' debate!

Q- Are your events free?
A- Our events are free to attend for all paid members. Certain trips requiring transport may require an additional small fee (a few pounds) to secure a place, such as London trips.

Q- Where can I keep updated on upcoming events?
A- Our instagram, @bristolCJS

Q- Which membership should I buy?
A- Our yearly membership makes you a member for terms 1 and 2 of 2025/26 and you can attend all of our events! Our half-year membership only lasts throughout the term you purchased it in. If you want to attend just one of our events, such as a specific speaker event or a London trip, why not try our half-year option?

Q- My friend wants to come to an event but they aren't a CJS member, can they come?
A- Unfortunately, our events are exclusive perks of membership. However, they are very welcome to join in on our socials and 'Give it a go!' debates! (We hope they enjoy and join us after!)

Q- What trips outside of Bristol are planned for 2025/26?
A- Supreme Court tour and Parliament visit in 2025, trip to the Inns of Court and Temple in 2026!
